Double Slipper Clutch?
New hopup on Tam USA for the 501x, a centre shaft for double slipper clutch, WTF?
Anyone any ideas, was wondering if it would be to set different slip on the front than the back, ie have the slipper on each of the 18t pulley's? |

Looked some more, they are releasing a DB01 double slipper clutch, the shaft is to use that on a 501x. The DB01 already had a slipper set so it must be different in some way?

There's a center one-way listed so it aint that. Weird...!

Maybe the old slipper didnt work with the centre one way, so they need a new one.

It uses a different centre shaft again from the one way one though, so I don't think this relates to the one way, not sure though!

the only thing I can think of is a slipper either side of the spur gear, with the inner plates indexed to the spur gear to maybe give the slipper more 'feel'

Well it seems that the only logical explanation is that the two slipper pads could be the meaning for double slipper clutch.

Have been wondering if (regardless of this part) there's any advantage to having separate front/rear slippers? I would think possibly but it's a pretty blunt instrument, in terms of sending more power to one end than the other. |

I dunno, as they already released the slipper, I reckon it is as I described, some whacky Tamiya lateral thinking going on.....

My guess/hope would be that it's a regular slipper with an adjustable centre one-way slipper.

Either way, I am glad to see some new parts for the 501X becoming available, even though most are mainly for the Durga, I was worried now they've had the worlds in Japan that Tamiya would drop out of the competitive side again, but this suggests they're hanging about
Jimmy, do you know if they've kept an offroad team in Japan, and anywhere else? |

I agree, as you already have a rear ball diff which can be used as a slipper, and if the layshaft one way comes along then the diff at the front can be used as well.

@Toonz:The car isn't so heavy,if you use the new lightweigth chassis. There you've got the possibility,to leave the motor heatsink away(better for indoor) and get so a bit less weight.
The new Double-Slipper seems to be more expensive than the normal one,so it has to be more than only another Slipper Clutch.Till now i couldn't find any pics of that part. |
