Default Ezrun Combos, 380/540 motor confusion...

My understanding is that the 9T, 10T, 13T, 32T motors have the ribbed casing & all have 380 size cores.
The 5.5T, 8.5T, 13.5T, 17.5T have smooth casings & are 540 size cores.

The problem i have is all the pictures showing the combos, both on GiantCod & even HobbyWing's websites show the ribbed motors with every combo available. I've just rang GiantCod but they couldn't clarify because they couldn't open one up because of the security tag.

One customer commented on thier website that they recieved the smooth motor with thier 8.5T combo.

Can anyone throw any light on the confusion plz ?

Dan.

I noticed a similar issue when I ordered my 5.5T combo from nitrorcx. Just FYI, a motor ending with a .5 will be the 540 can. The ribbed 380 size are a whole number of turns.

After the fact, I would have actually preferred the 380 sized model because the motor wires are permanently attached. The 5.5T which I ordered ended up having 2 of the 3 bullet tabs break right off the motor. I am left with 2 open, metal-ringed holes, which don't seem to want to hold any solder. Just be aware, you will have to re-solder or come up with some other solution WHEN your motor tabs come off. The motor itself otherwise appears to be very well built, though, and the ESC is absolutely great. It never even got warm even while the motor was 160 degrees.

From what I've read the .5T motors appear to only be 2-pole, while the 380 sized 540 (ribbed) can motors are 4-pole. In theory, they should have more torque. But, being a smaller motor, there may not be much difference.
